LOS ANGELES, United States — Lionsgate’s neo-noir motion thriller “John Wick: Chapter 4” opened this weekend with North American ticket gross sales estimated at a formidable $73.5 million, business watcher Exhibitor Relations reported Sunday.
Analyst David A. Gross known as it “an outstanding opening,” noting that every Wick sequel has managed to outdo its predecessors.
Critiques have been largely constructive: “Would that each one motion movies have been so nicely and cleanly choreographed,” the Washington Put up gushed; however some reviewers noticed the physique depend — greater than 100 per bloody Wick film — as a bit a lot.
“Chapter 4” owes its choreography largely to director Chad Stahelski, himself a former stunt man. Starring together with Reeves, in a story that has the titular hitman preventing a strong worldwide crime group — are Donnie Yen, Invoice Skarsgard and Laurence Fishburne.
Final weekend’s field workplace chief, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” took in simply $9.7 million, slipping to second place, in what Selection known as “one of many worst turnouts for a contemporary superhero film.” The DC/Warner Bros. movie stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel and Adam Brody.
In third spot was “Scream VI” from Paramount and Spyglass Media, at $8.4 million for the Friday-through-Sunday interval. Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega and Skeet Ulrich star within the horror flick.
In fourth was yet one more sequel, United Artists’ boxing drama “Creed III,” at $8.37 million. Michael B. Jordan directs and performs the title character; his co-star Jonathan Majors was arrested Saturday for allegedly assaulting a girl in a home dispute.
And in fifth, down one spot from final weekend, was sci-fi thriller “65” from Sony and Columbia Footage, at $3.3 million. Adam Driver stars in a time-travel saga that juxtaposes area ships and dinosaurs.
Rounding out the highest 10 have been:
“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” ($2.4 million)
“Cocaine Bear” ($2.1 million)
“Jesus Revolution” ($2 million)
“Champions” ($1.5 million)
“Avatar: The Method of Water” ($1.4 million)
